French press bialetti (for up to 6-8 cups)

29

The Italian manufacturer Bialetti has dedicated the French Press to a filter coffee maker that can be found in German kitchens almost as often as the mocha pot of the cult brand. The Bialetti Simplicity is a preparer made of glass and stainless steel. The French Press – also called a stamp pot – is one of the most functional filter coffee makers, as it is easy to use.

A good coffee from the French Press tastes intense and strong and is characterized by its full body. This is due to the contact time of the hot water with the coffee. In addition, the metal sieve of the French Press retains the ground coffee during pouring, but not the flavor-intensive oils contained in the coffee, as a paper filter would, for example. This gives the coffee a very different character; it is “thicker,” stronger, and less nuanced than a filter coffee from a hand filter or Chemex. Whether this is good or bad depends on personal taste.
